2026 SINGAPORE TO SYDNEY

Day 26 The flight home

We had to be off the ship at 8:30 am so a very early start.

We hopped a bus off to the airport. Our flight wasn’t due to take off until 2:30 pm so we had a bit of a wait. The flight was 100% full and I reckon they had pinched another couple of inches from each seat as it was the tightest seat spacing I have ever encountered.

Still we made it to Melbourne Airport. David, our hire car driver, whom we have used for every one of our trips, was waiting for us, and we arrived home around 5pm.

The coughs we picked up on the ship worsened and we were both subsequently diagnosed as suffering from Pneumonia. We are currently in the process of slowly recovering. As I am now in my 79th year, I have decided that this will be my very last trip and, as a consequence, my very last Hardys Travels Blog.

This has been the 9th of our trips that I have recorded since I started the Blog in 2012 to record our World Cruise. The march of technology meant its has had to move through three different platforms over that time.

I would like to thank the small, very dedicated group of people who have continued to follow my ramblings over that time. I am probably both the World’s worst traveller and the worst travelling companion, yet my beautiful wife Jeanette has not only put up with me, she continued against all the odds to organise trip after trip and somehow prised me out the door every time to go on them.

To my darling Jeanette, I just want to say thank you so much for both putting up with me and for showing me all the wonders of the world that we have explored together over the years. It has been an amazing series of voyages.
